Zura and the rest of her herd came to us from a neglect case in July 2019. Zura is ginormous in size and attitude, and she is completely in charge; no one dares to challenge her. But she is also mystical and gorgeous and leads her herd with pride… and sass. Sam, our animal caretaker and equine specialist, dedicated herself to helping Zura and her herd adjust to proper care, particularly addressing their badly neglected hooves.
Zura was recently diagnosed with canker in her hoof. If left untreated, canker would make it impossible for her to stand, and a horse that can’t stand cannot survive. Luckily, it was caught in time, and thanks to a successful surgery, she has an excellent chance to fully recover and live a healthy life.
