Please briefly describe any animal experience you have below. Have you ever worked with farm animals? If yes, please provide details. Lack of experience will not disqualify you, but preference will be given to those with experience.
*
Do you have any other non-animal experience that you think might relate to sanctuary work?
*
Hands-on animal tasks are typically done by our animal care staff and volunteers with previous large farm animal experience. This is for the safety of everyone involved. Dedicated volunteers can work their way up to more hands-on tasks; however, even the founder/director of the sanctuary still does tasks such as pulling weeds and fixing fences. Being an animal caretaker means being well rounded and able to do a variety of tasks to keep the animals safe, healthy, and happy. Please check any of the following tasks that you would be interested in doing as a volunteer.
*
Gardening
Weeding
General farm maintenance
Fixing and/or building fences
Tour guide
Horse grooming
Fundraising
Grant Applications
Please note the following and check each box to indicate agreement.

Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes, long pants with no holes, and t-shirts that cover the entire mid-section (no shorts, crop tops, or ripped jeans).
Long sleeve shirts are not required but are highly recommended. We understand it’s Florida and can get very hot, but long sleeves help provide additional protection from the sun, bugs, and thorns.
We recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and boots such as rubber rain/muck boots. Tennis shoes are okay, just keep in mind that they might get wet.
We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and a hat. You will be outdoors and sunburns are no fun. A hat will also help keep the sun and sweat out of your eyes.
Being outdoors, you will be exposed to mosquitoes and other bugs. We recommend wearing bug repellent
You are encouraged to bring water and snacks, but out of respect for our animal residents, all food and drink brought onto the premises must be 100% plant-based, meaning animal products such as meat, dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin, etc., are not permitted.
Volunteers must have reliable transportation to get to and from their volunteer shifts. We do not provide transportation. If volunteers fail to show for their shift without notice (no call/no show), they will not be asked back to volunteer.
By checking this box, I certify that I have read, understand, and agree to the conditions listed above.
I understand that if I show up for my volunteer shift and I am not dressed appropriately, I will not be permitted to volunteer. By checking this box, I certify that I am aware that these rules are in place for my safety and well-being.
